This week, we paint beneath an August sky. ✨
In Luke 9:1–17, twelve are sent out into the world — and later, a hungry multitude gathers with seemingly too little to feed them: five loaves, two fishes, and the question of whether what has been given will be enough.
There is something beautiful about meeting this story at this particular moment of the year.
Above us, the heavens move in their great twelvefold rhythm. The summer light is beginning its almost imperceptible turning toward autumn. And in the story, twelve human beings are learning to carry something of Christ’s light outward — not through possessions or certainty, but through trust, courage, and what they have been given.
Steiner often invites us to see the human being not as separate from the cosmos, but as intimately woven into its rhythms. Scripture, too, continually turns our gaze toward seed and harvest, sun and stars, bread and hunger — toward the spiritual speaking through the ordinary world.
So we won’t try to illustrate this Gospel story.
We’ll let color meet it.
